Woe Has Been Released!!!

The journey of redemption begins with the first step.In the darkness of a planet reborn in madness, James and Mia struggle to survive. Usagi the Vampire looks to regain his honor, and Ric Tic the mechanical security drone tirelessly works to complete his mission. In a world filled with Woe, the flame of hope is fickle at best.

So the journey truly begins. It has been a long road for this tired band of comic creators. We just completed our first Con called District Con on Staten Island with our sister studio Divided District Studios. For me it was my first show. It turned out to be a memorable one.

Woe was well received and we sold a good amount of books. what a thrill it was to have people stop by our booth and exclaim that they knew who we were. They had seen us on social media. A few even remarked that they were happy to see some of the original inks that were done on facebook live.

Earlier in the year I had the distinct pleasure to go see an art gallery showing off work by Rich Perotta on Staten Island called "My Sequential Life". I have made it a point to meet some of the people I have been talking to and working with for the past couple years in person and his show was my chance. It helped me get through the last bit of effort needed to push Ravenfish Studios forward. Rich was just as gracious and helpful in person as he has always been on the digital airwaves. Seeing his work in person was also a treat. As an inker I like to see how other people approach their work. With Rich I had the ability to see his pencils fleshed out on paper, as well as feel the ridges of ink on the page. It was an awesome experience. I also had the opportunity to meet some of the folks from Divided District Studios.

I had taken a stroll around Snug Harbor Cultural Center during a lull in the show. When i returned I saw two people chatting away with Rich and doing a Facebook live feed for the show. Rich quickly introduced me to Shawn McArthur and Carissa Pignatelli. Thus the journey of getting Woe on the road to District Con began. After that day there have been chats, emails, facebook live sessions, and a whole bunch of camaraderie. Shawn even did the main cover for Woe! I really love his style! I digress however...

When we completed Woe we decided to keep the original small print run black and white and offered a variant cover that shared a matching back cover with the main cover. Both the variant and the back cover were completed by Katia Vecchio. Katia is a very talented artist tht had just the right style we needed to catch the essence of Woe's roots. Woe started off as a Manga fusion style comic by Tim Teague. Tim wrote, penciled and inked the comic back in the day. It was primarily black and white. we wanted to honor the roots of this comic by keeping the first run this way and offering a similar style to the original for the variant covers and both back covers. Katia knew right away what she wanted to put on paper after reading the comic. I believe she captured the relationship of James and Mia perfectly.

So where are we with Woe? I will let you in on a secret.... Volume 3 is already written. Volume 2 needs an edit and it will start production right after the Kickstarter begins to colorize the second print run of Woe 1. In Volume 2 we will see what happens to our brave band of survivors, and delve deeper into Woe, So follow along! You can purchase a print copy of Woe through the site, or go to Drivethru comics and purchase a digital version of the book! We also have some first print run packages left for sale! Grab them while you still can.

All the best,

Joe G.
